Another year and another batch of fresh-faced hopefuls hoping to win the nation over. But it wasn't just the battle over who would be crowned this years winner in the hit reality singing programme that had all talking, the rivalry between X-Factor vs. Strictly Come Dancing was also the contest that was on everybody's mind.
The questionable showing of the two programmes at the same time left many wondering who was going to come out on top, ITV's X-Factor came out ahead with 10.7 million viewers, a massive 2 million more viewers than its BBC Strictly Come Dancing rival.
Although ITV came out on top, BBC were still claiming to be pleased with the viewing numbers they received "We are very pleased with Strictly's viewing figures from last night's show, The peak audience of 8.7 million combined with 9.1 million on Friday night means the show has got off to a great start"
It is clear to see that both TV stations and audiences alike will have to see how the war of the viewer pans out as both series progress.
